Méromie

Terms of sale

Updated: October 28, 2026

These terms apply to every interview and gift certificate purchased from Méromie, a service operated by Concia (“we”). By booking or purchasing, you accept them. They are written to be read, not just signed: if something is unclear, write to bonjour@meromie.com.

1. The service

A Méromie interview includes a preparation call and a list of themes, an interview of about one hour in our Montreal studio, professional editing into a film of about 45 minutes, and delivery of the film as a private online link, a downloadable high-definition file and a USB key sent by mail.

Options (couple interview, second hour, archive photos, extra copies) are quoted and confirmed in writing before the interview.

2. Price and payment

The price is shown on the site before tax. GST and QST are added. A deposit of $250 plus tax is paid online at booking. The balance is paid on the day of the interview, by card or cash, before the interview begins.

A gift certificate is paid in full at purchase, plus tax. The person who redeems it has nothing further to pay for the interview itself.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

3. Booking and slot

Your booking is confirmed once the deposit is received. You receive a confirmation email with the date, time and studio address. The slot is reserved for the person named at booking; tell us if that changes.

Plan on about two hours on site. If the storyteller arrives more than 30 minutes late, we may have to shorten the interview to keep the next appointment.

4. Rescheduling, cancellation and refunds

You may move an interview at no charge with at least 48 hours' notice, by email or phone. The deposit follows the booking to the new date.

In case of illness, hospitalization or death affecting the storyteller or their close family, we reschedule or refund the deposit in full, at your choice, with no justification required beyond your word.

With less than 48 hours' notice without a health-related reason, or if the storyteller does not come, the deposit is kept, because the slot can no longer be offered to someone else. You may still book a new date by paying a new deposit.

If we must cancel (illness on our side, studio unavailable, technical failure), we offer a new date of your choice or a full refund of everything paid.

5. Gift certificates

A gift certificate is valid for 18 months from purchase, for one Méromie interview. It is transferable: anyone may use it by entering its code. It has no cash value and is not refundable after purchase, except where the law requires it or when we cancel an interview we cannot reschedule.

A certificate is used once. Once a booking made with it is confirmed, the certificate is spent.

6. During the interview

The storyteller leads. They may skip any question, take breaks, stop early, and have a family member present. Nothing said in the studio is published or shared outside the family without written consent (see section 8).

We record audio and video of the interview. We do not record before the storyteller is told the camera is on, nor after they ask us to stop.

7. Editing and delivery

We edit the film with care: hesitations removed, meaningful pauses kept, titles added by theme. Delivery is normally within four weeks of the interview. If it takes longer, we tell you why and when.

After delivery, you may ask once for reasonable changes at no charge, such as removing a passage the storyteller would rather not keep. Re-edits beyond that are quoted separately.

We keep the raw recording for twelve months after delivery, then delete it, unless you ask us in writing to delete it sooner or to keep it longer.

8. Rights to the film and publication

The film is made for you. The storyteller and the buyer receive a permanent, unlimited licence to watch, copy, share and show the film for personal and family purposes. We keep the copyright in our production work only to the extent needed to deliver the service and, if consented, to publish.

Publication on the Méromie channel, or any other public use, happens only if the storyteller signs our consent form, and only within the limits they choose. Consent can be withdrawn at any time by writing to us; we then remove the public video within ten business days.

9. Personal information

We collect only what is needed to run the service. Our privacy policy explains what, why, for how long, and your rights.

10. Liability

We do our work carefully, but recordings can fail. If a technical problem on our side makes the film undeliverable, we re-record at no charge or refund everything paid, at your choice. Our liability is limited to the amounts paid to us for the service concerned.

11. Applicable law

These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and of Canada. Nothing in them removes the rights you have under the Québec Consumer Protection Act. Disputes are heard by the courts of the district of Montréal.
