Privacy policy

Updated: October 28, 2026

Méromie is operated by Concia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we protect it and what your rights are, in accordance with Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25) and Canada's PIPEDA.

Person in charge

Dominic Champagne, Concia, is the person in charge of the protection of personal information. Write to bonjour@meromie.com or call 438 900-6366 for any request or question.

What we collect

Only what the service needs:

  • Booking: the buyer's name, email and phone; the storyteller's name, approximate age, relationship to the buyer, interview language, particular needs you choose to share, chosen themes and notes.
  • Gift certificate: the buyer's name and email, the recipient's name and your optional message.
  • Contact form: your name, email and message.
  • Payment: handled by Stripe. We receive a confirmation and the last four digits of the card; we never receive the full card number.
  • The interview itself: audio and video recordings and the edited film, which are personal information of the storyteller.
  • Technical: standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages visited) kept briefly for security. We use no advertising trackers and no analytics cookies. The only cookie we set remembers your language.

Why

  • To book, prepare, conduct and deliver the interview, and to contact you about it.
  • To process payments and issue receipts.
  • To send gift certificates and confirmations.
  • To answer your messages.
  • To meet legal obligations (accounting, taxes).

Consent and publication

Recordings and films are used only to deliver your film, unless the storyteller gives separate, written, informed consent to publication or promotional use. That consent is optional, specific to the uses they choose, and can be withdrawn at any time by writing to us.

Particular needs you share (health, mobility, hearing) are used solely to welcome the storyteller properly and are seen only by the team members involved.

Who we share with

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with providers that help us run the service, under contracts that protect it:

  • Stripe (payments), Resend (emails), Vercel and Neon (hosting and database), Google (YouTube, only when publication is consented; calendar, for scheduling).
  • These providers may store data outside Québec, mainly in the United States. We have assessed this transfer and chosen providers with recognized safeguards. By using the service, you are informed of this.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Booking and payment records: seven years, for accounting and tax purposes.
  • Raw recordings: twelve months after delivery, then deleted, unless you ask otherwise in writing.
  • Edited films: as long as needed to re-deliver on request; deleted upon your written request.
  • Contact messages: two years.
  • Server logs: thirty days.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with providers that use encryption at rest and access controls. Access within the team is limited to people who need it. In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people concerned, as the law requires.

Your rights

You may, at any time, ask to access the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, withdraw a consent, or ask that it be deleted where the law allows. Write to us; we answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top is updated and significant changes are announced on the site.
