How it works
From booking to film, here is exactly what happens — and what we need from you: almost nothing.
1. Booking
You pick a date in our calendar and pay a $250 deposit online. You tell us who will be in front of the camera, any particular needs (mobility, hearing, language) and the subjects close to their heart.
Not sure about the date yet? A gift certificate can be booked later, when the person is ready.
2. Preparation
In the following days, we send our list of themes: childhood, the neighbourhood, school, the first job, love, children, the big events, recipes, regrets, pride. The storyteller picks about ten. Nothing to write, nothing else to prepare.
Someone from the team calls before the interview, to say hello and answer questions. On the day, they arrive at the home of someone they already know a little.
3. The interview
Our studio is a living room, not a set. A comfortable armchair, good light, a discreet camera, and a person across from them who listens. The interview lasts about an hour; we take breaks when needed. A family member can stay in the room or wait nearby, whichever the storyteller prefers.
The space is fully accessible: step-free, close to public transit, with an accessible washroom.
4. The film
We edit the interview into a film of about 45 minutes: we remove the hesitations, keep the silences that matter, and add titles by theme. Four weeks after the interview, you receive a private link, a downloadable file and a USB key by mail.
If the storyteller wishes — and only if they wish — their film can also be published on the Méromie channel, so their stories join everyone else's. It's free, and it's decided on the day of the interview, in writing.
